The theme of this year's Earth Day is Restore our Earth. The plan for Earth Day 2021 is 3 days of climate action beginning with a Global Youth Climate Summit led by Earth Uprising, My Future My Voice, and Onemillionofus. The Summit will include speeches and discussions with Youth Activist Greta Thunberg, Alexandria Villarenor, Licypriya Kangujam, and many more. You can get the full schedule of events at

Why We Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd every year. The holiday was founded by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22nd 1970. The first  Earth Day saw 20 million Americans participate across the country. The date was a calculated choice to encourage college students to play a major role in promoting the new holiday. At the time, on most college campuses April 22nd fell right between spring break and final exams.

The immense support and Civic demonstrations on the first Earth Day sparked an unprecedented amount of environmental legislation and permanent change in National priorities. Today, Earth Day is celebrated worldwide with the UN designating April 22nd as International Mother Earth Day. It's now recognized as the largest Civic event in the world. This incredibly important holiday continues to raise awareness about climate change and global warming, while inspiring us all to act on protecting our environment in our everyday lives.
